Three was the magic number for PT Freeport Indonesia at the annual TOP CSR Awards ceremony in October, as the company took home three trophies for corporate social responsibility.
PTFI won the TOP Leader in CSR Commitment award from a field of 70 member finalists and the TOP CSR Program in the Mining Sector. The company's contributions to developing regional infrastructure in the Mimika Regency also was recognized with the award for TOP CSR in Infrastructure Program.
"The awards committee was very appreciative of PTFI's commitment to regional development, which includes construction of the Mimika Sports Complex – now the largest and most complete sports center in the province of Papua," said Tony Wenas, Director and Executive Vice President-Government Relations.
Representing the company at the ceremony were Wenas, Claus Wamafma, Senior Vice President-Social Responsibility and Community Development, and Riza Pratama, Vice President-Corporate Communication.
Organized by Business New Indonesia, the National Committee on Governance Policy and the Indonesia CSR Society, the annual awards are selected based on field research and interview sessions with juries comprised of experts, academics and CSR practitioners.
