July 17, 2026
Freeport has been named one the best places to work in the United States in the U.S. News & World Report 2026 Best Companies to Work For ratings.
Freeport earned awards in multiple categories – Best Companies to Work For Overall, in the Energy and Resources sector, in the Western U.S. and for Internships. Last year, the company was ranked among the top performers in the Internships category.
Employee perceptions of six factors important to their wellbeing are rated. Freeport received top marks in the areas of job and company stability, career opportunities and professional development. It also ranked high on maintaining a work-life balance, creating a sense of belongingness and esteem, quality of pay and benefits, and physical and psychological comfort and safety.
The company takes a holistic approach to the employee experience, grounded in Proudly Creating Better Futures—a framework that reflects the value Freeport brings to employees, communities and the world—said Pam Masson, Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. This includes investing in career development and skills training, fostering a culture of inclusion and respect, and providing flexibility where possible to support employees both at work and at home.
“Being recognized by U.S. News as a Best Company to Work For reflects our commitment to Proudly Creating Better Futures—for our employees, our communities and our business,” Masson said. “We focus on providing competitive pay and benefits, supporting work-life balance, and offering meaningful opportunities for growth—because when our employees succeed, our business does as well.”
The publication’s rankings are based on an analysis of about 5,000 of the largest publicly traded and privately held companies in the U.S.
To qualify for inclusion on the U.S. News list, a company must score well above the national average for the category, whether it be nationally, in a region or within an industry. Up to 25 percent of top companies in their industry and region are ultimately coined "best," according to the announcement.
Employers are evaluated based on publicly available information like company websites, employee reviews on platforms like Glassdoor and LinkedIn, court records, financial strength and governance. Surveys were also conducted to identify the most important factors to employees.
