Freeport-McMoRan employees turn out by the hundreds for Global Volunteer Month.

July 17, 2019

Volunteering momentum was in full force during this year's Global Volunteer Month in April when more than 960 employees, their friends and family from across 22 Freeport-McMoRan sites participated in 42 events marking the month.

From diaper drives to tree planting to school events, company sites and employees found creative and impactful ways to contribute to the community by volunteering more than 3,000 hours valued at more than $75,000, based on the value of a volunteer hour by the Independent Sector.

"When employees volunteer, they not only are giving back to support those who may be less fortunate than themselves, but they are strengthening the well-being of the community as a whole, deepening the collective sense of kinship, association and home," said Tracy Bame, Director-Social Responsibility and Community Development, Freeport-McMoRan Americas. "There is no more powerful way than volunteering to join together to build community, and Freeport-McMoRan employees are consistently leading the way in creating great places to live and work."
